Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe yesterday emphasised that proper management and direction were needed to achieve regional development targets.
The Premier made this observation after participating in several events held in Galle to vest several development projects in the Galle District with the public. The projects included the District Secretariat building complexes and renovated and modernised divisional secretariat buildings.
The opening of the four divisional secretariat buildings in the Galle District took place under the patronage of Prime Minister Wickremesinghe.
The Premier declared open the newly-constructed building complexes attached to the Akmeemana, Habaraduwa, Hikkaduwa, and Gonapinuwala divisional secretariat offices.
The Premier first opened the Habaraduwa Divisional Secretariat building. The project is implemented by the Ministry of Home Affairs under the program to modernise district and divisional secretariats.
Prime Minister Wickremesinghe also opened the Akmeemana Divisional Secretariat Office which has been built with all facilities. The Prime Minister opened the new pipeline of Baddegama, Hikkaduwa and the Drinking Water Project in Gonapinuwala. The project aims to provide drinking water to more people in the area.
Ministers Vajira Abeywardena and Gayantha Karunatilaka, parliamentarians and public servants were present at the occasion.
