People’s Action for Free and Fair Elections (PAFFREL) has urged the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Pujith Jayasundara to take steps to ensure the Local Government (LG) elections are free and fair.
PAFFREL met the IGP at the police headquarters and had talks with regards to the election.
The IGP was also urged to investigate reports of processions being staged by some political parties when nominations were handed over, violating election laws.
The IGP was also urged to investigate if any of the candidates contesting the elections in February had a criminal record. (Colombo Gazette)
