People’s Action for Free and Fair Election (PAFFREL) has received 1,469 complaints of violations of election laws and other laws related to the general election by last Friday.
PAFFREL Executive Director Rohana Hettiarachchi said out of the total, 58 incidents of serious violence had been reported and 876 complaints had been received regarding illegal propaganda activities.
In addition, the organisation says it has received 24 complaints of assaults during political activities. Among them are nine serious assaults, six within the same party and nine disputes between the opposition parties. Hettiarachchi also pointed out that 201 of the candidates contesting this election have violated the election laws issued by the health sector.
PAFFREL has introduced several telephone numbers to lodge complaints during the forthcoming parliamentary elections.
Accordingly, complaints can be lodged at 011 2558 570 and 011 2558 574, fax numbers 011 2558 572, Viber or WhatsApp at +94 71 0916 989 and at [email protected].
They have also introduced nine separate telephone numbers and nine email addresses for the nine provinces, which will make it easier to lodge complaints.
