The Office on Missing Persons (OMP) will be holding its next regional meeting in Trincomalee on 13 June.
The newly-created OMP began its outreach program with public consultations on the 12 May in Mannar, held its second public meeting in Matara on 19 May and third meeting in Mullaitivu on 2 June.
The seven commissioners of the OMP met with families of the missing and disappeared, civil society organisations, activists working on the issue of disappearances and the media in order to share the OMP’s organisational plan and strategies.
The meetings also facilitated the hearing of public views in order to incorporate their suggestions in the structure and operations of the OMP.
The meeting in Trincomalee will be held at the Hindu Cultural Hall (in front of the Governor’s Office, (down Inner Harbor Road). The meeting will be structured as follows:
10.00 a.m.-12.30 pm: Families of the missing and disappeared from Trincomalee
12.30 pm - 1.00 pm: Media
1.00 pm - 2.30 pm: Civil society organisations
