The second generator of the Norochcholai Coal Power Plant has been added back to the National Grid, following its maintenance.
In June the second generator was disconnected from the National Grid for scheduled maintenance activities.
The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) yesterday confirmed that the maintenance work of the coal plant has been completed, and thereby 270MW generated by the second generator of the Norochcholai power plant will be added to the National Grid.
However, the third generator of the plant is now expected to be disconnected from the National Power Grid for scheduled maintenance after the second generator is added to the grid.
The CEB is currently imposing daily two-hours and 20-minute power cuts given the ongoing economic crisis.
