Zero patients tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday and the total number of confirmed cases identified in the island remains at 3,360.
The total count includes 11 patients identified on Sunday, of which six were foreign overseas arrivals and five were Sri Lankan returnees from abroad. Of the total count, 1,376 are Sri Lankan returnees and 70 are foreigners.
In terms of local cases, 950 Navy personnel and their close contacts and 651 persons connected to the Kandakadu Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre have tested positive in the island to date.
The Epidemiology Unit states that the number of active cases in the island is 137, which includes 23 foreigners.
According to the situation report published by the Epidemiology Unit yesterday, 48 persons at the Welikanda Base Hospital, 42 persons at the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (NIID), and 27 persons at the Hambantota District General Hospital are currently receiving treatment for COVID-19.
Hospitals are also monitoring 38 persons suspected of having COVID-19.
According to the Epidemiology Unit, two persons, one each from the NIID and the Iranawila Hospital, were discharged during the 24-hour period ending at 10 a.m. yesterday having recovered from COVID-19. The number of recoveries in the island has thus risen to 3,210.
Meanwhile, the National Operation Centre for the Prevention of the COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) yesterday said 101 persons from Oman, 50 persons from Dubai, and 38 persons from Japan arrived in the island and have been directed to quarantine centres.
This brings the total number of persons currently undergoing quarantine at 77 centres in the island to 7,484. According to the NOCPCO, 45,636 persons have completed the process thus far, with 606 persons leaving quarantine centres yesterday.
