Transport, Power and Energy Minister Mahinda Amaraweera has appointed Attorney-at-Law Athula Priyadharshana De Silva as the new Chairman of Lanka Electricity Company (LECO), the Ministry said in a statement yesterday.
He accepted the appointment letter from the Minister at the Ministry of Petroleum Resources.
LECO, Lanka Electricity Company Ltd., has earned a revenue over of Rs. 3,000 million in 2019. It has around 500,000 customers and employs over 1,500 employers.
After taking over as the new Chairman, the Minister stated that Lanka Electricity Company had gained the trust of the public by providing a quality service to the public.
The Minister of Power and Energy further stated that trust had been strengthened due to the re-supply of electricity within a short period of time in the aftermath of power failures.
