The National Buddhist Think Tank met this week with the participation of President Maithripala Sirisena at the Presidential Secretariat.
This is the ninth time that the National Buddhist Think Tank held its meeting under the patronage of President and they discussed about the implementation of the decisions taken at previous meetings effectively.
It was decided to provide 10,000 desk and chair sets to Piriven schools under the program adopted earlier and it was mentioned that those desks and chairs will be distributed among Pirivens in the near future.
Furthermore, it was discussed regarding the progress of the program to edit and publish the new Buddha Jayanti Tripitaka Series.
The attention was also drawn to implement a program to preserve the puskola poth (ancient ola manuscripts) at temples across the country and to build a new library for ola manuscripts.
Attention was also paid to implement programs to promote reconciliation and mutual understanding among the different communities as well as to set up inter religious committees at regional level in this regard while getting the assistance of religious leaders and public servants.
The Maha Sangha who represents the National Buddhist Think Tank, including Ven. Professor Gallalle Sumanasiri Thero, Ven. Dr. Akuratiye Nanda Thero, Ven. Narampanawa Ananda Thero, Ven. Thibbatuwawe Sri Medankara Maha Nayaka Thero, Ven. Professor Agalakada Sirisumana Thero, Officials of the Ministry of Buddha Sasana including its Secretary Chandraprema Gamage participated in this meeting.
