As part of its emergency response efforts to help combat the COVID-19 pandemic in the country, Muslim Aid Sri Lanka, with the funding support of UNHCR donated essential medical equipment worth Rs. 5.5 million to the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) and the Colombo South Teaching Hospital (CSTH) recently.
The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) received a High Flow Nasal Oxygen Therapy apparatus, a C-PAP/B-PAP machine and a Multipara monitor. The equipment were handed over by Muslim Aid’s Country Director Faizer Khan to NIMH Director Dr. Dhammika Wijesinghe and the management of the hospital.
Later in the day Muslim Aid handed over a high flow nasal oxygen therapy apparatus and a C-PAP/B-PAP machine to Colombo South Teaching Hospital (CSTH) Director Dr. Sagari Kiriwandeniya. Muslim Aid staff and hospital staff were present at the event.
Muslim Aid is planning to donate a further Rs. 30 million worth of medical equipment and PPE kits to the health sector to handle the COVID-19 outbreak and ensure provision of adequate support to frontline workers and efficient hospital services to patients.
