Ex-financial services industry expert and top public sector official Mano Tittawella (59) passed away yesterday at a hospital while undergoing treatment in Melbourne, Australia.
He was the former Senior Advisor to the Finance Ministry, Chairman of the Insurance Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka and was involved with the Secretariat for Coordinating Reconciliation Mechanisms under the previous administration.

He had previously served as Senior Presidential Advisor on Economic Affairs and was the Senior Director General of the President’s Office from August 2003 to November 2005, Chairman of People's Bank, the Strategic Enterprises Management Agency (SEMA), the Public Enterprises Reform Commission (PERC) and the Chairman of the Task Force to Rebuild the Nation (TAFREN) among others.
Tittawella had over 15 years’ experience in senior positions in the private sector as well. He has held the positions of Head of Research of Jardine Fleming, Sri Lanka, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Lanka Securities Ltd. (LSL), the stockbroking company of Merchant Bank of Sri Lanka Ltd. (MBSL) and Director of Business Development of MBSL.
