Mahindra and Mahindra Company of India has been chosen for the supply of 750 jeeps for Sri Lanka Police under an Indian Line of Credit.
Selection of Mahindra and Mahindra was after evaluation of bids received from companies recommended by the India’s Export and Import Bank.
A decision to this effect was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers at its meeting on Monday on the recommendations of Minister of Public Security Sarath Weerasekara. The approval is also subject to the recommendation of the Standing Procurement Committee appointed by the Cabinet of Ministers.
The original approval to source 750 jeeps for Sri Lanka Police including 150 for the Police Special Task Force via an Indian Line of Credit was approved by the Cabinet in November 2020.
