The Chief Prelates of Asgiriya and Malwatta chapters had sent a letter to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa requesting him to close the country for a week to control the spread of the COVID-19.
They also commended the President and the Government on the vaccination program.
However, the Chief Prelates of Malwatta and Asgiriya pointed out that the entire country is facing a catastrophe due to the spread of the coronavirus.
Therefore, the Chief Prelates requested the President to close the country at least for a week on the instructions and recommendations of the health experts to save the lives of the people.
