PMs office says he will present constitutional amendment to Cabinet
Says such amendments will meet aspirations of people

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa will present to the Cabinet a proposal to amend the constitution to make the Government more accountable to the people, his office said yesterday.

The PM’s office said in a statement that the Prime Minister has drawn attention to the demand by various sections of society to make the Government accountable to the people.

Such an amendment will include changes that will embody the Executive, Legislature, and the Judiciary, the statement said.

It added that such an amendment will meet the aspirations of the people.
