Ruling party MP Jayantha Ketagoda on Friday suggested to the Speaker that Pakistan hero Malik Adnan should be invited to the Parliament as an act of gratitude and recognition for trying to save the life of Sri Lankan Priyantha Kumara Diyawadana from a violent and extremist mob in Sialkot recently.
Ketagoda said Adnan was recognised by Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan by conferring the country’s second-highest civil award – ‘Tamgha e Shujaat’ for his futile yet valiant effort to save his General Manager at the Rajco Industries garment factory in Sialkot.
“I propose that the Parliament of Sri Lanka should extend an invitation to Malik Adnan in recognition of his bravery,” Ketagoda added.
The 49-year-old Kumara was beaten and lynched by a mob on 3 December over allegation of blasphemy by angry mobs in Sialkot.
