The Sri Lanka Army has handed back another segment of land in Mullaitivu during a ceremony last week. According to Army media, documents relating to 52.14 acres of land in Mullaitivu were handed over to the District Secretary for Mullaitivu, Rupawathi Kethiswaran during an Army-organised Christmas Carol program at the St. Peter’s Church.
Accordingly, 33.05 acres of civilian owned lands, 11.59 acres of state lands and 7.5 acres belonging to the Forest Department were thus released as a token of goodwill and reconciliation by the troops. The documents pertaining to the land release were handed over by the Commander, Security Forces – Mullaitivu, Major General Dushyantha Rajaguru, to the District Secretary during the program.
