Prime Minister and United National Party (UNP) Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe has issued a directive to all Parliamentarians of his party to refrain from making comments on ongoing legal cases in the Supreme Court or any other court of law without having extensive knowledge on the subject.
The UNP Leader issued the directive focusing his attention on reports that several UNP Parliamentarians had expressed views on some legal cases during media briefings and other events.
He further stressed that the members of the party should express opinions on a subjective matter only if they had extensive knowledge pertaining to the issue, and that they must refrain from expressing any views at all when they lack sufficient knowledge of such issues.
