Investment Promotion State Minister Keheliya Rambukwella yesterday called on the Opposition to do away with what he termed as a deplorable political culture which at times tarnished Sri Lanka’s image, as citizens of the country had given a clear mandate for President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
Responding to MP Dr. Rajitha Senaratne’s remarks on Monday regarding the alleged Swiss Embassy employee abduction incident, Rambukwella urged the law enforcement institutions to record a statement from the former. “From the remarks of Dr. Senaratne, all we can gather is that for him to give such a descriptive statement on the alleged Swiss Embassy employee abduction incident, he must have got all first-hand information, and he should be questioned first by the law enforcement units. Though he claimed that the lady who faced the so-called incident is undergoing mental trauma, it is actually Dr. Senaratne that is suffering from it,” Rambukwella claimed.
The State Minister said with this type of baseless accusation, Dr. Senaratne was deliberately trying to tarnish the country’s image among the international community.
“Stop the political hooligans,” Rambukwella said.
He insisted that Sri Lanka is now in an era where there is positive attitudinal change in people, where they have got together irrespective of party politics to build the country.
