The Assistant Secretary General of the United Nations Kanni Wignaraja and a delegation from the UNDP met with the Minister of Justice M.U.M. Ali Sabry PC at the Ministry of Justice yesterday.
The UNDP reinforced its support to Sri Lanka through its flagship SDG16 portfolio, and the Minister updated Wignaraja and the UNDP of the latest updates on the justice sector reforms, including the digitisation drive, the new laws being introduced, as well as the opening of new courthouses such as the Investor’s Court.
The UNDP was represented by Resident Representative Robert Juhkam, Deputy Resident Representative Malin Herwig, and Policy Specialist and Head of Inclusive Governance Team Chandrika Karunaratna. Secretary to the Ministry of Justice M.M.P.K. Mayadunne, Coordinating Secretary and Director of the Justice Sector Reform Program Shamir Zavahir, and Attorney-at-Law and Advisor Fayad Bakir, represented the Ministry of Justice.
