Italian national drowns in sea at Nilaweli

An Italian national has drowned on Thursday afternoon while bathing in the sea near the Bella Nilaweli Beach Hotel in Eastern Sri Lanka, a Police report said.

Police said the deceased, a 71-year-old Italian national, was bathing in the sea with his wife when he was pulled away by strong currents. The remains have been placed at the Trincomalee Hospital morgue. An autopsy was performed yesterday (30). Nilaweli Police are conducting further investigations. (Colombopage)
