High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to South Africa accredited to the Kingdom of Eswatini, Kumar Mallimaratchi presented Letters of Credence to King Mswati 111 at a ceremony held on 25 July at the Lozitha Royal Palace in Mbabane.
High Commissioners of Sri Lanka and the United Kingdom, along with the Ambassadors of Brazil, Germany, Botswana, Mozambique and Czechoslovakia were given a warm welcome at the ceremony by the King and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Eswatini, Thulisile Dladla. While extending warm greetings from Sri Lanka President Maithripala Sirisena, High Commissioner Mallimaratchi conveyed the willingness of Sri Lanka to assist the Kingdom of Eswatini in five key areas of development envisaged in addition to the malaria eradication program in African region led by the King. During the discussion King Mswati 111 recalled his visit to Sri Lanka in 2012 and expressed his interest in renewing cordial relations between the two countries. He was keen to expand the cooperation in the areas of Agriculture, Education, ICT and Energy sectors. High Commissioner Mallimaratchi assured the King of his unstinted cooperation to develop and strengthen the bilateral ties.
The High Commissioner was accompanied to the ceremony by Udeni Mallimaratchi and the Counsellor of the High Commission of Sri Lanka, Priyangani Hewaratne.
