Health Minister receiving treatment for COVID-19 at IDH

Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi is currently receiving treatment for COVID-19 at the Infectious Diseases Hospital (IDH) and her health condition is improving, the Health Ministry said in a statement issued yesterday.

The Minister tested positive for COVID-19 on 23 January and was receiving treatment at a centre in Hikkaduwa. However, she was transferred to IDH, where she is now recovering from COVID-19.

According to the Ministry, Wanniarachchi’s first contacts as well as personal staff, Wanniarachchi’s spouse and Secretary Kanchana Jayaratne are currently undergoing quarantine. Arrangements have also been made to subject these persons to PCR tests.
