DC, CHENNAI: The Sri Lankan Higher Education Minister and Sri Lankan Muslim Congress President Rauff Hakeem, on Saturday, called on DMK Leader M.K. Stalin at the party headquarters in the city.
Hakeem later told reporters that it was a courtesy call.
On the developments in Jammu and Kashmir, Hakeem said India being the biggest democracy in the world with different kinds of people, should ensure the interests of all sections of people. In particular, he said: “The Government of India should protect the rights of the Kashmiri people and do things there without affecting the rights of the people.” Regarding Sri Lanka, he stated: “Our Government is doing a lot of things for the improvement of Sri Lankan Tamils, particularly in education and basic needs. In Sri Lanka, after the Presidential elections later this year, a great political change will happen.”
