Sri Lanka Customs on Saturday arrested a foreign national at the Bandaranaike International Airport with a stock of cocaine worth Rs. 30 million.
The 28-year-old suspect is a businessman and had arrived at the Katunayake airport this afternoon from Guinea-Bissau.
The passenger has arrived from Nigeria to Doha, Qatar and from Doha on board a Qatar Airways flight to Colombo. Officers of the Airport Anti-Narcotics Bureau of Customs have found two kilograms of cocaine in the suspect’s possession. The cocaine was packed into four containers and carefully concealed at the bottom of his luggage, Customs Media Spokesman said.
The raid was conducted by officers of the Anti-Narcotics Division. The suspect has been detained and a special investigation has commenced. The Anti-Narcotics Bureau is conducting further investigations.
