Former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa appeared before the Police Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) yesterday (25) to make a statement on the order of the Court.
The Court of Appeal on 14 June ordered the former Defence Secretary to appear before the FCID on 25 July to make a statement regarding the investigations on the construction of the D. A. Rajapaksa Memorial Museum.
In addition, the Court of Appeal has also issued an injunction preventing the FCID from taking legal action against him and taking him into custody under the Public Property Act.
The FCID has filed a case charging Gotabaya Rajapaksa for committing an offence under the Public Property Act in constructing the Museum and Memorial in Medamulana using public funds amounting to Rs. 90 million.
