Ministry of Social Affairs, Health and Integration of the German State of Baden-Württemberg donated a consignment of 300,000 German manufactured Rapid Antigen Test kits to support Sri Lanka’s efforts to contain COVID-19. The consignment valued at Rs. 300 million will be used in hospitals islandwide.
The German donation which was facilitated by the Sri Lanka Embassy and the Honorary Consul of Sri Lanka in Baden-Württemberg Darma Vivekachandran was presented at a ceremony held at the Foreign Ministry in Colombo. Foreign Secretary Admiral Prof. Jayanath Colombage handed over the donation to State Minister of Production, Supply and Regulation of Pharmaceuticals Prof. Channa Jayasumana and Secretary of the State Ministry Dr. R.M.S.K. Rathnayake.
State Minister Prof. Channa Jayasumana conveyed appreciation to the Ministry of Social Affairs, Health and Integration of the German State of Baden-Württemberg for the valuable donation that will help to detect COVID-19 and control its spread.
Ambassador of Sri Lanka in Germany Manori Unambuwe and the staff of the Embassy coordinated the arrangements for the dispatch of the donation which was air transported by courtesy of SriLankan Airlines.
