The Free Trade Zone Manufacturers’ Association (FTZMA) has congratulated newly elected President Ranil Wickremesinghe and says it looks to his prowess to establish a multi-party Government to usher much needed stability and growth.
Following are excerpts from the congratulatory letter by FTZMA Chairman Jatinder Biala and Hony. Secretary Dhammika Fernando.
The Executive Committee together with the membership of Free Trade Zone Manufacturers’ Association (FTZMA), wish to congratulate you on your ascension as the eighth Executive President of Sri Lanka through the Parliament constitutionally. We believe that you would do your utmost to fulfil the aspiration of the people towards which we extend our fullest corporation.
FTZMA is the pioneer investor chamber representing FDIs which exists 40 years since the inception of the then GCEC. We, in collaboration with the BOI, have contributed immensely to promote Foreign Investments, provide employment and bring in much needed foreign earnings to the country contributing to the national economy.
We represent multiple of investors/FDIs including apparel, electronics, fibre optic products and tooling, precision tools, ornaments, rubber products, jewellery, logistics etc. as our members in all the BOI EPZs as well as BOI enterprises outside the EPZs which includes both manufacturers and service providers.
We therefore play a vital role in the national economy and shaping it up while providing direct and indirect employment plus means of living for hundreds of thousands of people. We are very eager to see this country come out of the current economic crisis fast and resume normalcy and prosperity.
The whole country pins a lot of hopes on your prowess to establish a multi-party Government to usher in much needed stability and growth through effective governance by managing the economy with strict discipline at all levels of Government sans corruption.
We are confident that you as a well experienced leader can face the uphill task to resuscitate Sri Lanka and fulfil the aspirations of all sections of the public including those who have been demanding system change by winning the hearts of all. We as exporters will do our best to help the country by try to improve our foreign earnings.
