Former Minister A.H.M. Azwer passes away

Former Minister and UPFA National List MP A.H.M. Azwer passed away at the age of 80 at a private hospital in Colombo yesterday.

Azwer started his political career as a member of the LSSP in 1950, later becoming a UNP member in 1955. He joined the SLFP in 2008. He took oaths as a Member of Parliament on 17 February 1989.  Before joining politics, Azwer worked as a journalist and teacher. 

 The body of the former Minister will leave his residence at Bathuiya Mawatha, Kalubowila to the Dehiwela Jumma Masjid for burial after the evening Asar prayers today.
