Former Colombo Chief Judicial Medical Officer Prof. Ananda Samarasekara, who was implicated in the Wasim Thajudeen murder case, surrendered to the Colombo Magistrate’s court yesterday.
Following his surrender, Colombo Additional Magistrate Jayram Trotsky granted Prof. Samarasekara bail and released him on two sureties of Rs. 500,000 each.
On 2 October, the Criminal Investigation Department sought a court warrant to arrest the professor over the disappearance of body parts of murdered national rugby player Thajudeen during the post-mortem examination.
Prof. Samarasekara had filed a petition in the Colombo High Court asking the court to issue a preventive order against his arrest.
