Flour companies yesterday decided to keep prices unchanged, following discussions with the Government.
Non-Cabinet Minister of Economic Reforms and Public Distribution Dr. Harsha de Silva said that following discussions, the flour companies had agreed to reverse their decision to increase prices by Rs. 8, which was announced earlier this week.
“My discussions on wheat flour with Serendib and Prima as convener of Cabinet Committee on Cost of Living successful. Already Serendib informed us they suspended price increase. Prima is expected to follow. The requested increase will be discussed at COL and decided after analysis of data,” Dr. de Silva tweeted after the talks.
The Bakery Owners Association has also said they will not raise prices as flour prices will remain unchanged.
