The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Riyadh, joined hands with LuLu Hypermarkets, an international supermarket chain which has 157 stores across the GCC region, to celebrate the Sinhala–Tamil New Year with a ‘Sri Lankan food week’.
The main event of the week was held at the LuLu Hypermarket at the Riyadh Avenue Mall in Maather - Riyadh with the participation of Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Azmi Thassim. Parallel events were also held in Dammam and Jeddah with the participation of Sri Lankan dignitaries, professionals and community members.
During this week-long Sri Lanka celebration, a wide variety of fresh vegetables, fruits, canned products and fish products sourced from Sri Lanka were made available to the public. The chefs of the LuLu Hypermarkets presented an assortment of cooked Sri Lankan food items, including milk rice and curry items, during this week.
LuLu Hypermarkets have established a dedicated sourcing centre in Katunayake, Sri Lanka, which makes weekly shipments of food items to all 157 LuLu stores.
