The second interim report of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry (PoI) appointed to probe the Easter Sunday attacks was handed over to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa at the Presidential Secretariat today.
According to the Presidential Media Unit, the final report will be compiled following further investigations.
The first interim report was handed over on 20 December 2020. Former President Maithripala Sirisena also commissioned a PoI to look into the attack, which killed more than 250 and injured over 500. A Parliamentary Select Committee which investigated the attacks found the former President, Prime Minister, Inspector General of Police, head of the state intelligence service and others culpable in failing to act on available intelligence and provide the necessary leadership to prevent the attack.
