The Court of Appeal issued a directive to the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court yesterday not to proceed with any action in the case filed against Former President Maithripala Sirisena over Easter Sunday terror attacks for a period of 10 weeks.
The Court issued the directive when a writ application filed by former President Sirisena seeking to quash the summons issued by Colombo Fort Magistrate court was taken up for hearing today.
Justices of the Court of Appeal Sobitha Rajakaruna, and Dhammika Ganepola heard the application and fixed for arguments on 6 December. An order was also made to file written submissions before 30 November.
Earlier a petition was filed at the Colombo Fort Magistrate Court by Rev. Father Cyril Gamini and Jesudasan Nadesan, a victim of the terrorist attack against former President Maithripala Sirisena for his failure to prevent the terrorist attack despite receiving prior intelligence warnings.
