Dissanayake presents Credentials as Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Jordan

Shanika Dissanayake presented Letters of Credence to King Abdullah 11 at the Royal Hashemite Court at Basman Palace on 2 December.

The credentials ceremony entailed a ceremonial Guard of Honour and the playing of the National Anthems. During the audience with the King, Ambassador Dissanayake conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to the King which was warmly reciprocated.

Welcoming the Ambassador to Jordan and wishing her success in her new assignment, the King recalled the excellent bilateral relations between the two countries. The Ambassador stated that she looks forward to re-invigorating and enhancing political and economic cooperation between the two countries. 

Shanika Dissanayake joined the Sri Lanka Foreign Service in 1998 and has served in various capacities in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Sri Lanka Missions. She served as the Director General in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs immediately prior to her appointment in Jordan.

Ambassador Dissanayake holds a Masters Degree in Defence and Strategic Studies from the University of Malaya in Malaysia and is a graduate of the University of Colombo. She is a past pupil of Sacred Heart Convent, Galle.

The Ambassador was accompanied to the Credentials ceremony by Attache of the Embassy Ganga Mahadewa.
