Business leader turned politician and Investment Promotion Minister Dhammika Perera became the latest to step down with immediate effect.

He worked in his ministerial position for only 16 days.
In a letter addressed to the President, the leading businessman who was sworn in as a National List Parliamentarian of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) on 22 June, said he is resigning considering the current political situation in the country.
Perera was sworn in as the Minister of Investment Promotion before the President on 24 June.
He joined several others who announced their resignations including Media Minister Bandula Gunawardena, Tourism and Lands Minister Harin Fernando and Labour and Foreign Employment Minister Manusha Nanayakkara.
