Over 400,000 persons were vaccinated in Sri Lanka on Saturday, with the COVID-19 immunisation program administering the first or second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine to 412,211 persons.
Persons vaccinated on Saturday include 306,622 persons who received the first dose of Sinopharm and 35,720 persons who received the second dose of Sinopharm. In total, 5,270,508 persons have received the first dose of the vaccine and 1,393,084 persons have received the second dose of the vaccine.
The Moderna COVID-19 vaccine was administered to 69,830 persons on Saturday, raising the number of persons to receive the vaccine to 633,198. The second dose of Sputnik V was administered to 39 persons on Saturday. The first dose of the vaccine has been administered to 159,081 persons and the second dose to 14,503 persons.
A total of 126,058 persons have received the first dose of Pfizer and the first dose of AstraZeneca has been administered to 925,242 persons and the second dose of AstraZeneca to 385,885 persons.
Regarding persons awaiting the second dose of AstraZeneca, Pharmaceutical Production, Supply and Regulation State Minister Prof. Channa Jayasumana said there are delays in the consignment of 1.45 million vaccine doses from Japan due to the Olympics currently taking place in Tokyo.
As of Saturday, the first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine had been administered to 7,114,087 persons and the second dose to 1,793,472 persons.
