Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 detections exceeded 300,000 with the detection of 1,940 COVID-19 positive persons yesterday.
A total of 301,832 persons have tested positive for COVID-19 in the country to date.
According to the Health Promotion Bureau, 12,887 PCR tests were carried out yesterday. The COVID-19 detections include 1,919 persons from the New Year cluster.
The cumulative patient count of the Divulapitiya, Peliyagoda, Prisons, and New Year clusters is now 293,393, this includes 197,808 persons from the New Year cluster, 82,785 persons from the Peliyagoda cluster, 7,812 persons from the Prisons cluster, and 3,059 persons from the Divulapitiya cluster.
The country’s COVID-19 detections also include 6,186 Sri Lankans overseas arrivals and 328 foreigners.
This takes into account the 1,711 COVID-19 patients detected on Tuesday, of which 1,688 persons were from the New Year cluster and 23 were Sri Lankan overseas arrivals.
The Health Promotion Bureau states that 9,935 PCR tests and 4,673 rapid antigen tests were carried out on Tuesday. The detections on Tuesday include 481 persons from Colombo, 310 persons from Gampaha, and 228 persons from Kalutara.
During the third wave of the pandemic, 36,789 persons from Colombo, 35,053 persons from Gampaha, and 25,394 persons from Kalutara have tested positive for the virus.
In total, 69,086 persons from Colombo, 53,587 persons from Gampaha, and 32,452 persons from Kalutara have tested positive for COVID-19. In addition to this, 15,130 patients from Kurunegala, 14,401 patients from Galle, and 14,364 patients from Kandy have also been detected.
At present, 25,782 persons are under medical care and 1,501 persons suspected of having COVID-19 are under observation.
The Epidemiology Unit states that 1,499 persons were discharged from hospitals yesterday, raising the country’s COVID-19 recoveries to 271,855.
