Crown Royal Shipping Services, which functions under Crown Royal Holdings Ltd. (CRHPL), recently commenced shipping operations, with Maldivian company Equatorial Lines Ltd. to provide cargo transportation between Sri Lanka and the Maldives.

Opening up international cargo transportation between a global network and Sri Lanka, CRHPL’s Crown Royal Security Services, which is a licensed shipping agent as well as a freight forwarder and NVOCC Operator, has entered into the agreement with Equatorial Lines, a subsidiary of Centurion Plc, Maldives to provide sales canvassing, arrangements for transportation, container loading and unloading, storage, delivery, freight collection and all other shipping services.

The CRHPL is a conglomerate that has been in existence since 1996, providing employment and empowering Sri Lankan talent.

“Being an award-winning company, we thought to expand our services internationally. For the last 23 years we have provided a high degree of customer satisfaction under a very transparent operational process,” CRSSPL Chairman and Managing Director Ajith Kangaraarachchi said.

He added that CRHPL’s senior management was capable of handling services provided by the company as they were qualified retired professionals from the tri-forces and Police.

“We began offering shipping, courier and resort operation services with the intention of establishing the company’s footprint internationally,” he revealed.

“We are a service-oriented company excelling in security guards (armed and unarmed), sea marshals, janitorial and cleaning, cash transportation, advertising and printing and CCTV installation and monitoring,” Kangaraarachchi said.

The CEO of Equatorial Lines in the Maldives and Crown Royal Shipping Services Consultant Hisham Mohamed said multi-model shipping consolidation was launched for the benefit of the more than 50,000 Maldivians living in Sri Lanka.

“Other than fish and water, all other goods come from outside the Maldives. This new shipping line allows the Maldivian population in Sri Lanka to send goods to their families in the Maldives through Crown Royal Shipping Services, which is capable of providing an efficient service,” Mohamed stated.

He said Equatorial Lines was the second largest company for multi-model transportation and logistics transportation in the Maldives and had been in operation for the past 19 years.

According to Mohamed, Maldivians living in Sri Lanka pay high costs to send their consignments home as the charges of most courier services were high.

“We will be able to charge $ 10 per kilogramme, which is much more affordable for our people here,” he said.

Meanwhile, an MoU has also been signed between CRHPL and Al-Obaidani Stores and Co. of Oman, to manage and provide financial assistance to the Creo Equestrian and Country Club under Al Obaidani Stores and Co.

Al-Obaidani Stores Group of Companies Manager Dasantha Mallikarachchi said the company selected CRHPL as its operational partner for its resort in Oman as it possessed qualified staff to manage the resort.

“The resort has facilities for horse riding at its own horse riding school within the resort and we also use horse riding programs for therapeutic purposes for the disabled,” he said.

The latest venture under the Crown Royal Group of Companies, Allegro Lanka Courier Service Ltd, was also launched on the same day to provide logistics services to its clients.

Out of over 2,000 employees, nearly 75% of CRHPL’s security arm, Crown Royal Security Services Ltd. (CRSSPL), provides security services to various leading institutions including HNB, BOC, NSB and MBSL Bank.

It has opened branch offices in Kandy, Anuradhapura, Kurunegala, Ja-Ela, Colombo, Horana and Galle to provide a 24-hour security service and other solutions to over 300 clients.

CRSSPL was the Excellence in Business and Financial Results Winner in the large category and also claimed a Merit Award for Other Services at the National Business Excellence Awards 2018 organised by the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka recently.
