Colombo Chief Magistrate yesterday postponed to 18 June her decision on granting bail to the suspect who attempted to bribe the OIC of the Horowpathana Police OIC.
When the matter was taken up for inquiry before Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratna, the Magistrate further remanded the suspect till 18 June and said that she would decide on that date whether the suspect should be released on bail or not.
The Horowpathana Police had arrested a relative of the suspect over terrorist-related charges. Then the suspect had approached the OIC of the Horowpathana Police and had pledged to provide over Rs. 500,000 as a bribe in order to refrain from objecting to a bail application which was to be submitted in court by the accused.
The Commission on a complaint made by the Horowpathana Police OIC who had arranged a raid and had arrested the suspect while attempting to provide Rs. 250,000 as bribe to the OIC.
