Chinese President Xi Jinping has sent a condolence message to his Sri Lankan counterpart on 21 April, after multiple deadly attacks shook the country.
In his message to Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena, Xi said that he was shocked to know the series of explosions in Sri Lanka, which have caused large casualties.
“On behalf of the Chinese government and people, and in my own name, I would like to extend my deepest condolences to the victims, and convey my sincere sympathy to the injured and the bereaved families,” he added.
The Chinese government and people stand firmly with the Sri Lankan people, steadfastly support the Sri Lankan side to safeguard its national security and stability, Xi said.
On the same day, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang, State Councillor and Foreign Minster Wang Yi also sent condolences to their Sri Lankan counterparts over the attacks.
