The Cabinet of Ministers this week approved the appointment of a fresh Sub-Committee on Cost of Living, which will be chaired by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
The move comes following the recent Cabinet reshuffle. The Cabinet Sub-Committee will also include Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and several State Ministers.
The committee is tasked with the responsibility of formulating policies and practical solutions to keep the cost of living stable.
“This week’s Cabinet meeting focused a lot on finding solutions to ease the burden on cost of living. Raft of measures to ease the cost of living, shortage of essential items, and difficulties faced by people were discussed at length,” Cabinet Co-Spokesman and Media Minister Dr. Nalaka Godahewa said at the post-Cabinet meeting media briefing yesterday.
He assured that the Government is taking all efforts to overcome the worst economic crisis.
