Ceylon Workers Congress MP Jeevan Thondaman announced yesterday that his party is ending its 15-year political tie-ups with the Rajapaksas.

Addressing a May Day rally at the CWC Headquarters in Kotagala, General Secretary and MP Jeevan Thondaman claimed his party acted with utmost trust in President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, but they did not help the estate community.

He argued how they could further support the Government when that trust was completely shattered.

The MP Thondaman also noted that his request for a plot of land to build a University in Kotagala for estate workers was completely ignored by the President.

Last month Thondaman announced that the CWC has decided to support a no-confidence motion against the Government.

Jeevan’s father Arumugam Thondaman served as a Cabinet Minister in Mahinda Rajapaksa’s governments between 2005 to 2015.
