Three COVID-19 deaths were confirmed by health authorities yesterday and the country’s COVID-19 death toll has risen to 537.
According to a statement issued by the Department of Government Information, a 72-year-old individual from Polgasowita tested positive for COVID-19 while receiving treatment at the Sri Jayewardenepura Hospital. She was then transferred to the National Institute of Infectious Diseases, where she died of liver failure and COVID pneumonia yesterday.
A 70-year-old individual from Aadigama was identified as COVID-19 positive while receiving treatment at the Chilaw District Hospital and was transferred to the Homagama Base Hospital. On 16 March, he died of liver failure, kidney disease, and COVID pneumonia.
An individual from Medigiriya tested positive for COVID-19 while receiving treatment at a private hospital in Kandy. The individual was then transferred to the Teldeniya Base Hospital, where he died of COVID pneumonia, heart disease, and high blood pressure on 16 March. The individual was 72 years old.
