Fifteen new COVID-19 case was reported yesterday, raising the total number of confirmed cases in Sri Lanka to 3,010.
According to the Department of Government information, three patients are recently repatriated persons from the Maldives and had been in quarantine when tested, while 10 were returnees from the UAE.
551 persons were released from quarantine yesterday, after they tested negative for COVID-19 PCR tests. The group, the largest to be released from quarantine in one day, had completed the mandated quarantine program and were released from nine centres, the National Operations Centre for the Prevention of COVID-19 (NOCPC) said yesterday.
According to the Health Promotions Bureau, 128 infected patients under medical care. 11 COVID-19 patients were discharged yesterday, after they recovered from the virus, the Epidemiology Unit of the Health Ministry said. 2,860 infected patients have recovered up to date. 12 have succumbed to the virus. 52 persons suspected to have COVID-19 symptoms are being closely monitored by health authorities. Of the patients under treatment, 28 patients including two foreign nationals are being treated at the National Institute for Infectious Diseases (NIID). The Base Hospital at Welikanda treats the highest number of patients – 63. The Iranawila Hospital treats 30 with the Minuwangoda Base Hospital and Colombo East Hospital each treating one COVID-19 patient.
A total of 34,416 persons have completed the quarantine program at centres managed by the armed forces up to date while 7286 remain in quarantine at 68 centres.
346 persons were repatriated from Russia, Dubai and Doha yesterday and were moved to quarantine centres after being subjected to PCR test for COVID-19, the NOCPC said. Of the 346, 21 were repatriated from Russia, 42 from Doha and 280 from Dubai.
