Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Parliamentarians Rajitha Senaratne and his son Chathura Senaratne were called at the Colombo Crime Division (CCD) yesterday to record statements concerning an alleged false complaint made by a journalist regarding an abduction.

The Police began investigations in to an alleged abduction following reports that a web journalist Sujeewa Gamage was abducted and later released.

Gamage had made a complaint to the Police stating that he was abducted and assaulted on 10 March. However, Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana claims that investigations have revealed that the complaint was false. DIG Rohana stated that the journalist had met with opposition MP Rajith Senaratne and his son Chathura before making the complaint.

Both Rajitha and Chathura Senaratne left the CCD after recording statements for five hours.
