Sri Lanka has achieved close to 55% second dose coverage among its total population and the country average of second dose coverage in the over-30 age group has reached 100%.
According to Our World in Data, 54.43% of the total population of Sri Lanka has received both doses of a COVID-19 vaccine, while 12.89% has received only the first dose. Epidemiology Unit data shows that 14,502,913 persons have received the first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and 11,730,305 persons have received the second dose as well.
The Epidemiology Unit adds that second dose coverage remains below 70% in only one district, with 62.1% of persons over the age of 30 in the Kilinochchi District having received both doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.
In the 20 - 30 age group, one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine has been administered to 53.9% of the population and the second dose has been administered to 12.8% of the population.
Sri Lanka yesterday received 408,650 doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine through the COVAX facility. A consignment of 400,000 doses is expected today as well.
On Wednesday, 61,215 persons received a COVID-19 vaccine dose.
This includes 27,893 persons who received the first dose of Sinopharm and 25,357 persons who received the second dose of the vaccine. In total, the first dose of Sinopharm has been administered to 11,620,051 persons and the second dose has been administered to 9,267,511 persons.
The first dose of AstraZeneca has been administered to 1,465,559 persons and the second dose has been administered to 1,255,924 persons. On Wednesday, 2,149 persons received the first dose of AstraZeneca and 3,950 persons received the second dose of AstraZeneca.
The first dose of Pfizer was administered to 1,562 persons on Wednesday and 19 persons received the second dose of Pfizer that day. A total of 462,518 persons have received the first dose of Pfizer and 291,566 persons have received the second dose.
The first dose of Moderna has been administered to 795,696 persons, of which 759,933 persons have received the second dose as well. On Wednesday, 69 persons received the first dose of Moderna and 216 persons received the second dose of the vaccine.
A total of 159,089 persons have received the first dose of Sputnik V and 155,371 persons have received the second dose of Sputnik V.
