On completion of her tenure as the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Republic of Korea, Ambassador Manisha Gunasekera paid farewell calls to high-level dignitaries of the Korean Government, prior to her departure from Seoul.
The Ambassador paid a farewell call to the First Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cho Hyun, at the Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 12 October. During the meeting, Ambassador Gunasekera extended her deep appreciation to Vice Minister Cho, for the excellent support extended by the Korean Foreign Ministry and Korean Government interlocutors in broadening and deepening bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and the Republic of Korea in the past three years, and also conveyed her warm greetings to Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha through the Vice Minister. Vice Minister Cho acknowledged progress in bilateral relations, and appreciated the efforts by the Ambassador in furthering bilateral cooperation, and extended his best wishes in her future endeavours.
Ambassador Gunasekera also paid farewell calls to: Korea Eximbank Chairman and President Dr. Eun Sung-soo (2 October); Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) President & CEO Kwon Pyung-oh (11 October); Korea Importers Association (KOIMA) Chairman and President Shin Myung-jin (4 October), and appreciated the strong support extended by the respective institutions in the promotion of development cooperation, investment and trade between Korea and Sri Lanka. Ambassador Gunasekera also met with Korean National Security Chief and National Security Council Standing Committee Chairman Chung Eui-yong on 10 October.
