United National Party (UNP) General Secretary and Parliamentarian Akila Viraj Kariyawasam yesterday denied allegations that party followers were barred from entering ‘Sirikotha’ headquarters.
Kariyawasam, in a statement issued yesterday through the UNP Central Bureau, claimed that a common agreement was reached at the UNP parliamentarians’ group discussion on Monday, to postpone the meeting organised by Sajith Premadasa to meet and thank party faithful who aided his campaign.
Kariyawasam stressed that all parties were informed of the decision, and claimed that in a telephone conversation between him and Premadasa on Tuesday night, Premadasa informed him that some party faithful who hadn’t received the message of the postponement will be met by Premadasa at the Vauxhall Street office.
