The Asian Development Bank (ADB) will be reimbursing Sri Lanka to the tune of $ 85 million, money which the country had spent to purchase Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccines.
According to Pharmaceutical Production, Supply and Regulation State Minister Prof. Channa Jayasumana, the ADB had agreed to reimburse the amount taking into consideration the transparency of the vaccine procurement process as well as the progress of the country’s COVID-19 immunisation program.
The majority of the country’s vaccinated population received the Sinopharm vaccine, with 11.9 million persons receiving the first dose of Sinopharm and 10.9 million persons receiving the second dose.
