Daily COVID-19 vaccination numbers dropped below 100,000 with only 94,651 persons receiving a COVID-19 vaccine on Thursday.
According to the Epidemiology Unit, 13,690,202 persons have received the first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and 10,867,900 persons have received the second dose as well.
As of Thursday, 92.7% of the country’s population over the age of 30 had received both doses of a COVID-19 vaccine. Of the 20 to 29 population, 36.7% have received the first dose and 12.4% have received the second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella yesterday urged persons to get the COVID-19 vaccine available to them, adding: “We will be initiating Pfizer inoculations for children between the ages of 15 to 19 and children suffering with disabilities over 12 years of age to keep up with the vaccination drive.”
On Thursday, 37,623 persons received the first dose of the Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine and 53,017 persons received the second dose of the vaccine. In total, 10,858,564 persons have received the first dose of Sinopharm and 8,928,905 persons have received the second dose of Sinopharm.
The first dose of AstraZeneca has been administered to 1,444,816 persons and the second dose has been administered to 895,003 persons. On Thursday, 604 persons received the first dose of AstraZeneca and 50 persons received the second dose of the vaccine. The Epidemiology Unit states that 1,049 persons received the first dose of Pfizer on Thursday and 535 persons received the second dose of the vaccine. The first dose of Pfizer has been administered to a total of 450,845 persons and the second dose has been administered to 242,602 persons.
A total of 776,888 persons have received the first dose of Moderna and 757,937 persons have received the second dose as well. On Thursday, 1,675 persons received the Moderna first dose and 95 persons received the second dose of the vaccine.
Three persons received the second dose of Sputnik V on Thursday, raising the number of persons to have received the second dose of Sputnik V to 43,453. The first dose of the vaccine has been administered to 159,089 persons.
