Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 detections rose to 662,425 following the detection of 83 COVID-19 patients yesterday.
This is the second time daily detections have dropped below 100 since 15 October 2020. According to the Epidemiology Unit, 93 COVID-19 patients were detected on 27 March and daily detections have remained above 100 since then.
The previous day, 126 persons tested positive for COVID-19. The Health Promotion Bureau states that 2,914 PCR tests and 1,651 rapid antigen tests were conducted on Wednesday.
As of 6 April, 74,644 COVID-19 patients had been detected this year. The country’s COVID-19 detections also include 483,090 persons from the New Year cluster, 82,785 persons from the Peliyagoda cluster, 9,154 persons from the Prisons cluster and 3,059 persons from the Divulapitiya cluster.
In addition to this, 7,242 Sri Lankan returnees from overseas and 328 foreigners have also tested positive for COVID-19.
